How to call it

The same tool through each route. MCP clients reach it through Strale’s server at https://api.strale.io/mcp; the call below is what the agent sends.

# Needs an API key. max_price_cents caps what this call may cost.
curl -X POST https://api.strale.io/v1/do \

Limitations

  • Covers the ClinicalTrials.gov registry only

Trials registered solely with the EU Clinical Trials Information System, ISRCTN, the WHO ICTRP or a national registry do not appear. Registration is voluntary in many jurisdictions, so absence from this registry is not evidence a trial does not exist.

  • Registration record, not results

The response describes what the sponsor registered — design, enrolment target and status. It carries no outcome data, and a large share of registered trials never post results.

  • Status is sponsor-maintained and often stale

Recruitment status is whatever the sponsor last submitted. A status of UNKNOWN means the sponsor has not verified the record within the registry's expected window; completed trials are frequently left as recruiting for months.

  • Enrolment counts mix estimates with actuals

enrollment_type distinguishes ESTIMATED (a target) from ACTUAL (what was reached). Treating an estimated figure as achieved enrolment overstates a trial's size.
